Research Topic

  • AI-Assisted Software Engineering – My PhD topic lies in the intersection between artificial intelligence (AI), software engineering (SE) and human aspects research. Specifically, I'm exploring how we can foster a trusting collaboration between software engineers and AI tools, with a primary focus on generative AI models such as GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer). This includes the interaction and collaboration with, and the impact of AI on the software engineering process. Ultimately, I hope to uncover frameworks to improve the interaction and the design of AI tools in a long-term, sustainable way, beyond the short-term hype.
  • Human-centered AI — In the broader context of AI, I am generally interested in how AI influences humans and, conversely, how humans influence AI. Human factors play a significant role in the design, implementation, and adoption of AI-based software and should therefore be at the heart of discussions about AI.
  • I am also involved in designing courses for teaching artificial intelligence in German vocational training through the KI B³ project.
