Colloquium

Currently, the HNSE colloquium is held as a joined event with the ESE colloquium at the University of Stuttgart.

Attending the Colloquium is free to the public. No registration is required, and we welcome external attendees!

• Your talk shoud take approximately 10 minutes (intermediate presentation) or 20 minutes (final presentation). Afterwards, there will be 10 minutes time for questions. If your talk gets much longer than that, we might have to cut it.
• Know your audience! While we are all Software Engineering researchers, some of us are not familiar with more specific topics. Some of us do their research on testing, others on requirements engineering. A quick introduction to specific concepts (1 sentence is probably enough) helps to keep everybody on the boat.
• Test in advance that everything works. You need to be able to share your screen via Webex. You need to connect an external HDMI device, if you present in person. Join the Webex Session in time.
• You should give your talk in person, if possible. As the colloquium is taking place in Stuttgart and/or Heilbronn, we do understand that Garching students do not want to travel that far, and can give their talks online instead. If you are unsure what to do, consult with your supervisor.
• Talks should be scheduled 14+ days in advance. When scheduling a talk, try to group talks together (avoid filling dates with only one presentation), and try to mix intermediate and final talks. These are not hard requirements, though.
• Add slide numbers to your slides. This helps a lot with asking questions.
