Strengthening Research Bonds: Joint Doctoral Seminar with University of Kassel and University of St. Gallen at TUM Campus Heilbronn
On March 26th, 2025, the research groups shared a joint day at TUM campus Heilbronn, where PhD students, postdocs, assistant professors, and full professors came together for a day dedicated to knowledge sharing and networking.
The day began with a warm welcome from Prof. Dr. Ali Sunyaev (TUM), Prof. Dr. Ivo Blohm (University of St. Gallen), and Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister (University of St. Gallen & University of Kassel). This was followed by a small group activity designed to help participants get to know each other. A key highlight was the presentation on the fundamentals of research funding in Germany and Switzerland, delivered by the professors from all participating research groups. This was complemented by an engaging panel discussion where postdoctoral researchers shared their experiences with research funding.
During lunch attendees also had the opportunity to learn from a distinguished guest speaker Prof. Dr. Chunyang Chen (Professorship for Software Engineering & AI at TUM), who provided valuable insights into software engineering and automated software testing with LLMs. The event continued with a group poster session, where PhD students showcased their dissertation ideas and received constructive feedback. Finally, the PhD students and postdocs got together in groups of four to five to exchange ideas and explore opportunities for collaboration in the future.
To round off the day, all participants took a short walking tour across the TUM Campus Heilbronn before gathering for a convivial dinner. The joint doctoral seminar provided an excellent opportunity to connect, share perspectives, and engage in meaningful academic discussions.
