The Department of Computer Science at the Technical University of Munich conducts research at the core of Informatics and in interdisciplinary research fields. Our research groups cover a wide range of fields, including

  • theoretical foundations,
  • programming technology and Software Engineering,
  • database systems and data science,
  • Scientific supercomputing,
  • Artificial Intelligence,
  • computer graphics and image processing.

Interdisciplinary and applied research is given highest priority. As a result, the fields of Bioinformatics, Medical Informatics and Business Informatics are becoming increasingly important. Here, our research groups not only cooperate with the neighboring departments and schools on Campus Garching, but with external partners beyond university boundaries, including numerous companies.
